Why Race 2 Justice day?

Students at South High have planned a day of workshops central to the theme of racial justice and acceptance. As students, we are uniquely positioned to examine and reflect on the historical impact of White Supremacy and its continuation. We feel this day is one dedicated to furthering curriculum that speaks to inclusion and tells the story of all students. To this end, more than 60 workshops will be presented, putting a spotlight on inequities that exist between intersections of race, gender, sexuality, and class, to name a few. These workshops will take the place of regular school day classes. We will provide healing spaces and places to build and make art. We see Race to Justice Day as a way to help usher in a school curriculum that is liberatory, works to be inclusive, and makes the school setting a safe, nurturing place for all.
