Welcome to Mrs. Timander's ELL classroom!  I am new to South High School this year and very happy to be here.  I have been teaching in Minneapolis Public Schools for 20 years.  My past experiences as an educator have primarily been with MUCH younger students (kindergarten and 1st Grade).  After years of being a elementary classroom teacher I decided it was ready for change.  I returned to Augsburg College to get an ESL teaching license.  At this point I also shifted my focus from elementary students to high school English Learners.  As a parent of two teenagers I realized how much I would enjoy working with older learners and I've never regretted my decision.  South High School is a dynamic school filled with amazing students and teachers.

I spend most of my teaching day with Level 1 Newcomer English Learners, as well as one class with Level 3 ELs.  My schedule is as follows:

Period 2 - Reading 1

Period 3 - Reading 1

Period 4 - Academic Language Development

Period 6 - Writing 1

Period 7 - Writing 1
