Kristen Gupta (French teacher) has been awarded a professional development scholarship from the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF), an international organization of French teachers with over 10,000 members. Madame Gupta is the vice-president of the Minnesota chapter of AATF.

Madame Gupta will study French as a Second Language pedagogy for three weeks in August at the Université de Liège in Belgium funded by Wallonie-Bruxelles International, the organization in charge of international relations for the predominantly French-speaking part of Belgium.

Kristen will join one other American winner and students from around the world who work teaching French as a foreign language. Part of her coursework will include observation hours with teachers who teach French in Liège. Her research will focus on refining and updating her current “March Musical Madness” unit that uses contemporary French music in the classroom and links to current issues in the French-speaking world.

Madame Gupta will present her research findings and talk about her experience at the AATF International Conference in Trois Rivières, Québec in July 2020.
