South's Furman wins concerto competition


South junior Victor Furman has claimed one of 7 top spots from a field of 40 pianists in the MacPhail Concerto and Aria competition. Furman has been a piano student for eight years. His teacher is Jon Iverson. Six of the competition winners will each play with chamber-sized orchestras. Furman is the competition winner chosen to play with the Civic Orchestra of Minneapolis in two May performances.
