About me
I fell in love with French in 8th grade when I started French 1.  For me, the French language has been like a treasure box for me.  After speaking French for 15+ years I continue to find priceless treasure.

Teaching is my second career and I am so glad to have found it. I worked in business for 10 years where I worked in various positions including some where I used my French language-skills and global cultural competencies. After 10 years of working in corporate, I finally decided to listen to my heart’s longings and become a French teacher.  I am proud to be at South High, a school that has been important to my family in several ways. Every day my students teach me something new, and of course, make me laugh. I’m told my laugh is memorable so if you hear something between a witch’s cackle and a giggle travelling through the hallway of third floor, it is probably me.

My teaching philosophy is anchored in the belief that learning languages helps us better understand what it means to be human. The more we realize how much we have in common with others, the better. I thoroughly enjoy facilitating the moments where my students have “ah-ha” moments about culture through language, such as when they learn something is done differently in another part of the world and then are forced to ask themselves why we do something in a different way here. I also use the French language as vehicle for students to better understand where we live locally and the numerous cultures here.
