Merrill's love and passion for soccer as captain of her high school team continued in play at Carleton College in Northfield. There, she just missed qualifying for Nationals her senior year.

After graduating from Carleton with a B.A. in Psychology, Merrill worked at the YWCA of Minneapolis as a Youth Counselor.

She coached soccer for 6 years at Washburn High School, helping develop their women’s program. She currently coaches at Keliix Intra Soccer Club in Minneapolis and is an avid follower of Liverpool Football Club in the EPL (English Premier League).

In her day job, Merrill works in the Human Resources Department –Diversity and Inclusion–– at HealthPartners.

In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, sailing on Calhoun, and biking around the Twin Cities, and  lives in the Minneapolis Kingfield neighborhood.

Athletic Director Brett McNeal says, "We are excited to have Lizzie as part of South High School and our Athletic Program."
