Information for Physical Science:
Physical Science is an exciting introduction to three main scientific disciplines: physics, chemistry, and Earth science. In this class, students will master the learning targets from the district curriculum while learning valuable skills that provide the foundation for further science learning. Topics studied include motion and forces, energy, electricity, atoms and molecules, chemical reactions, chemical cycles, and climate change. We have many exciting labs and field trips planned to help students see how the science they are learning is applied in the real world.
Information for Chemistry:
Chemistry is a year-long, lab-based science course with many exciting labs and field trips. We will explore the many ways chemistry affects our lives and how chemists are working to solve problems facing our communities. Students will master the learning targets from the district curriculum as well as explore the contributions of people from many cultures to chemical knowledge. Topics include atomic structure, chemical bonding, reactions, stoichiometry, gases, acids and bases, and nuclear chemistry.
Information for Biology:
Biology is a year-long science course incorporating both lab-based and outdoor learning. We will learn how diverse organisms interact, how their bodies work, and how both genetics and environmental factors shape their lives. Students will master learning targets from the district curriculum, as well as explore how culture and worldview impact the work of scientists. Topics include cells, ecological interactions, population dynamics, body systems, and genetics.
About Ms. Vanegas
