Welcome Ms. Colleran's Class
Spring Bike Ride!

My name is Ms. Colleran and this year I will be teaching Academic Language Development (ALD).

A little bit about me!  I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and spent my childhood in suburban Milwaukee. After graduating in 1984 from Winona State with a B.A. Fine Art degree, I moved to Minneapolis to become a graphic artist.  My favorite job as a graphic designer was for a company that designed and built museum exhibits all over the world, even Bermuda. You can see some of my work at Minnesota State Parks, (Fort Snelling, Nerstand Woods, Gooseberry Falls). I love living close to the city lakes where I spend time running, walking, biking, skiing or

just hanging out at my favorite beach.

I have two daughters who were born in Guatemala, but are now officially adults. After traveling to Guatemala many times, I have learned so much about the beauty of Central America, but also the many struggles.

I have been teaching in Minneapolis Public Schools for 10 years and this is my second year at South High School.  Previous, I taught for six years at Pillsbury Community School.  We had biking program where I was able to help coach kids in biking. We rode all around Northeast Minneapolis and even rode to Stillwater, 28 miles.  I am hoping to do more biking with my students here at South.
