Russell Anteronen: First season as an assistant coach for the Track and Field team, whose responsibility is the distant runners…..Began running as a student at Minneapolis Central High School, participating in both Cross Country and Track and Field. He also wrestled in high school…..He paid his way to participate in FIVE World Master’s Championships in Eugene, OR, Buffalo, NY, Turku, Finland, Gateshead, England, and Puerto Rico. At the Master’s Worlds, he 17 in his age bracket in the long jump at the games in England. He lost in the 100 Meter Dash to former world record holder Eddie Hart in the heat in Eugene. He ran on one 4x100 Meter Relay in Finland…..He attend St. Cloud St. University for two years. He attended Minneapolis Vocational and earned two certificates…..He has never stopped reading and learning…..He retired after a 19-year career as a bookkeeper with the American Cancer Society…..Has coached track and field for two years at Washburn, 14 years at Southwest, and 21 years for a Summer Track Club.

Ernest Sutton: First season as the Head Track and Field coach at South….. He was the Head Track coach at Edison High School where his girl’s teams have won three State Class A titles……Also serves as an Assistant Head Football Coach at South. Will serve as Offensive Coordinator…..Coached at the University of Northwestern St. Paul, focusing on linebacker corps…..Coach two-time all-conference, COSIDA Academic All-American linebacker Ben Greener…..In 2016, helped coach UNW to its first NCAA DIII playoff berth….. Before UNW, was on staff at Greenville College in Illinois from 2008-10, where he worked with the running backs and kick returners with the team winning the UMAC South title with a 7-3 record…..Under his tutelage, Anthony Ambers was named the UMAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2009; amassing just over 1,500 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns. Ambers 157 yards rushing per game was second in the Nation in all of DIII….. Sutton holds a B.A. and has completed coursework towards his Masters of Arts in Education degree…..He works as a behavior specialist at Northeast Middle School.

Jeff Buszta: First season as an assistant coach for the Track and Field team, whose responsibility is the administrative end of the sport…..Also is an assistant coach for South Football whose responsibility is the administrative end of the sport…..Began coaching in 1980 at what is now St. John Paul II K-8 school, coaching baseball and basketball…..Assistant Coach for Girls’ Basketball and Softball at North for two seasons and baseball for eight seasons…..Served at North Athletic Director for eight years…..currently volunteers as the Minneapolis District Athletic Historian. Lived his entire life in the Minneapolis area….. Born and raised in Northeast Minneapolis…..attended high school at Grace in Fridley (now Totino Grace)…..graduated with B.S. and M.A.T. degrees from University of Wisconsin-River Falls…..Earned Educational Specialist degree from University of St. Thomas. Began teaching career as a substitute teacher. Worked one year at Edison and Northeast each…..Taught 26 years at North, with the second year splitting time between North and Franklin…..Currently in his fourth year at South.
