                    South HS gymnastics is open to all girls attending South HS.  All skill levels are welcome!

South Gymnastics - the Basics!

Welcome to the South High Women's Gymnastics website!

This section provides some basic information and the contact information for Gabby, Head Coach.

Communication is key!  Let Gabby (briestick@aol.com) know in advance if you will miss practice, not be able to compete at a meet, or will not need transportation for a meet (24 hours in advance).

 

 All girls interested in joining gymnastics are welcome.  At meets, 5 girls will compete varsity and 7 girls JV.  The girls may compete in any of the events - floor, bars, beam, vault - or as All-Around on all 4 events.  They may compete varsity on some events and JV on others or the full meet as varsity or JV.

Participation papers and fees  - Due no later than Nov. 15th!  Forms must be turned into the office before girls can participate in practice.

  • $60 Participation Fee to South HS
  • School forms - see South HS / Athletics for mandator forms
  • If you missed the parent meeting, contact Gabby for additional forms

Leos and Warm Ups

  • Practice leos will be the same as those in 2009-2010 season.  New gymnasts must purchase a practice leo.  Contact Gabby about price and size.
  • New warm ups will be the purchased for the 2010-2011 season.  Order forms at will be distributed at captain's practice.  The sweat tops are $28 and pants $24.  More information about the design and style will be provided with the order forms.  All warm up forms and money must be turned in to Caroline by November 18th
  • Competition leos will be provided; deposit required.  If interested in purchasing the competition leo), contact Gabby
  • Students participating in fundraisers will have 50% of the profit available to offset above costs

Routines

  • Gymnasts will need routines for floor, beam and bars
  • Coaches will support the gymnasts in developing the routines during practices
  • Coach Sarah will create a routine for any gymnasts upon request; $40

Lettering 

  • Girls must compete in 3 Varsity 2010-2011 meets and finish the season with 95% excused attendance to letter. 

Team Rules

  • Priorities:  Family is first, School is second, Gymnastics is third, and then everything else 
  • If a gymnast has to sit out or is limited to practice because of an injuty for more than 2 days, the gymnast must get a doctors note to be able to compete in future meets
