NOTES FROM THE MUSIC DIRECTOR:
Visit our facebook page AND review these VERY DETAILED :) instructions below:

For Singing Auditions!

Choose between "Stick to the Status Quo" (mm 18-30) or "What I've Been Looking For" (mm 1-28) both from High School musical. The sheet music for these selections are at bottom of this page.

If you're listening on iTunes or YouTube, it's the first minute of the songs.

All students will sing these selections and audition accompanied by the piano.
  • If you have additional music prepared and you are called back on Thursday, you can sing your prepared song then.

  • No A Capella auditions (No auditions without sheet music for the piano player.)

If you've never auditioned for a musical, and might be a bit nervous to sing in front of a panel, come dive in the water, and worry about how to swim later!

We want every student interested to feel welcome.

To help you prepare, I've created practice tracks for each of the two selections.

For each song:
Listen to the WORDS track and learn the words and melody.
Review the melody by listening to the MELODY track.
Practice the song by singing it with the BACK TRACK.

"What I've Been Looking for" Also has tracks in two LOWER keys. If you're listening to the words track, and it seems to high for your voice, try the MID and LOW tracks to help you find your sound. All students would benefit from singing in all three keys. As important as notes and rhythms are, we want to hear you audition with confidence and personality!

Here is a link to all the tracks:

These selections are what you will be singing at the audition, so take all the time you need to prepare. We will be reviewing the songs together at the audition.

For Dancing Auditions!

You will learn a short dance and perform it in small groups for the choreographer. There is nothing you need to prepare for this audition.

For Acting Auditions!

Please familiarize yourself with the lyrics below from  "Start of Something New."
At the audition, you will be asked to improvise with these lyrics as various characters from the show, so play around with your favorite characters!

T: “Living in my own world
didn’t understand that anything can happen
when you take a chance.

G: I never believed in what I couldn’t see
I never opened my heart
to all the possibilities.

T&G: Oh, I know
that something has changed
never felt this way.

G: And right here tonight.

T&G: This could be the start
of something new
it feels so right
to be here with you, oh
and now lookin’ in your eyes
I feel in my heart
the start of something new.”
