Graphic Communications Courses:
Desktop Publishing - Instruction in the software and techniques used by graphic designers.
Photography - Provides students with an understanding of the technical and aesthetic controls of black and white photography.
Industrial Design - Students research and design solutions to contemporary technological problems.
Architectural and Mechanical Drafting - Develop your skills of 3D modeling using computer aided drafting and design software (CADD).
Machine Shop - This class provides in-depth instruction and experience in the operation and set-up of machine tools.
Project Lead the Way Courses (OPEN TO ALL SOUTH HIGH STUDENTS):
Note: Students who pass this set of yearlong classes are eligible for 3 college semester credits in engineering. Experience the power of working with metal! For further information contact the Counseling Department.
Introduction to Engineering Design - This introductory course develops a student's problem solving skills, with emphasis placed on the concept of developing 3D rendering of an object.
Digital Electronics
Principles of Engineering - This course explores the use of math, science and manufacturing processes in problem solving. Students will understand how social and/or political consequences of technological change affect the engineering design solution process.
Computer Integrated
Civil Engineering and Architecture -
Engineering Design and Development - Teams of students design and construct solution to an engineering problem by applying the principles learned in the previous PLTW courses.
