Iam “Majesty” Allah: Class of 2020…..Wears #14…..6’3”, 160 pounds…..Third season playing basketball for South…..He enjoys playing the game…..He believes his biggest athletic accomplishment was when he scored 30 points, had 10 rebounds and six assists in a JV game during his sophomore season…..He has been a member of a number of teams that have won AAU tournaments…..He is a funny person and very loud…..His biggest academic achievement has been earning a spot on the Honor Roll.

Jaylen Blakley: Class of 2020…..Wears #1.....5’8”, 154 pounds…..Fifth season playing basketball for South…..Earned two letters in basketball…..Named All-Conference in basketball at the end of the 2018-19 season…..Also ran Track…..To Jaylen, basketball is a lifestyle. You have to completely immerse yourself in the game to be successful. He has grown up with love for the game and has always been drawn to basketball. To Jaylen, basketball is more of a lifestyle than a game…..His biggest athletic accomplishment is earning his letter AND receiving letters from colleges that may be interested in recruiting him to play in the future…..He scored a personal best 38 points in a game last season…..His biggest academic accomplishment is participating in the Upward Bound Program all four years he has been at South. (Upward Bound is a program which encourages and prepares high school students for the rigors of college.)….. He has been to many colleges and worked out with coaches. Having that experience has opened his eyes to what he wants in the future.

Seamus Hegarty: Class of 2020…..Wears #22.....6’4”, 210 pounds…..Fourth season playing basketball for South…..Named Most Improved Player on the B-Squad for the 2016-17 season…..Also ran Cross Country…..He really enjoys his teammates on the basketball team. His teammates make the game fun to play…..He tries to work his hardest and loves the challenge that basketball gives him. Basketball has helped him progress through his young life both physically and mentally…..He is academically proud that he has constantly been on the High Honor Roll and takes classes that are challenging…..Athletically, he is proud to represent South and being on the basketball team all four years of his high school experience…..He is also a commissioned dealer in pottery.

Ethan Madden: Class of 2020…..Wears #54…..6’3”, 265 pounds…..First season playing basketball for South…..He has played and watched the game for a long time and he feels he is in a different world when he is on the court….A native of Chicago, he enjoys playing 2K and listening to music

DeShawn McArthur: Class of 2020…..Wears #2…..6’3”, 145 pounds…..Fourth season playing basketball for South…..Earned one letter in basketball…..Was named Most Improved Player for the JV team in 2017-2018…..Due to injuries, he was not eligible for any awards during his junior season…..He is hoping to bounce back from the injuries and be a force and a leader on this year’s team…..He was born into a family where everyone played the game. It came natural to him…..Basketball is a very mental game as it is physical. One bad plan can cost the team a game…..His biggest athletic achievement came when he played on an out-of-state tournament and was named the Most Valuable Player while his team took home the championship…..He is extremely proud of being named to the “A” Honor Roll.

Abdirahman Nor: Class of 2020…..Wears #12.....6’0”, 135 pounds….. Third season playing basketball for South…..Also runs track…..He is attracted to basketball because of the competition and enjoys being with his friends…..He believes he is calm during tough situations…..He is constantly working on his skills and is proud with how his jump shot has improved…..He is proud that he is on track to graduate because he has never failed a class.

Saiid Warsame: Class of 2020…..Wears #10.....6’3”, 195 pounds…..Third season playing basketball for South…..He says basketball is not an easy game and you have to constantly be playing your hardest. He is attracted to basketball for the competition, which allows him to push himself to become a better player and person. One of the ways he has become a better person is the dedication it takes to play the game has been transferred to other aspects of his life…..He is proudest of being named to the Honor Roll.

Sam Bradley: Graduating Class of 2021….. Wears #5…..6’3”, 150 pounds…..Third season playing basketball for South…..Named the Best Shooter on the B-Squad for the 2017-2018 season…..He believes he is an extremely hard worker on and off the court and loves basketball because of the exercise it affords him…..He loves eating Ramen…..He is extremely proud that he earned a spot on the “A” Honor Roll during his entire freshman year.

Wears #11 ….. 5’ 7”, 147 pounds…..First season playing basketball for South…..Basketball is a way to connect me to people I can call family outside of blood. It also is a key for new opportunities in both high school and life…..His biggest athletic thrill came in 7th grade year when he scored 32 points, including hitting a buzzer beater in an end-of-the-season tournament and earning a medal…..His biggest academic accomplishment is maintaining a grade point average over 3.0

Anthony Martin: Graduating Class of 2021….. Wears #11…..6’2”, 165 pounds…..First season playing basketball for South….. He loves the game and how the game flows….. He scored 42 point in AAU tournament in the summer of 2019….. He is proud that he passed all of his classes with a C or higher grades…..He has been told that he is a very humble and caring person.

Wears #23….. 6’3”, 220 pounds…..Second season playing basketball for South…..Sebastian moved to the United States from Puerto Rico two years ago…..He enjoys the teamwork that the game provides as well as being something bigger than himself…..While in Puerto Rico, his team won the school championship…..He loves learning new things from the coaching staff every day and the competitiveness of the sport. He is looking forward to working hard in order to help our team be as successful as possible.

Lukas Johnson: Graduating Class of 2022….. …..Wears #15….. 6’ 3”, 170 pounds…..Second season playing basketball for South…..He loves the culture, competitiveness, energy, and action of the game of basketball, as well as the people involved in playing the game……Athletically, he achieved a milestone when he became a varsity starter in a number of games during his freshman year…..He is extremely proud he has been able to maintain a grade point average over 3.70.

Lennox Lasley: Graduating Class of 2022….. Wears #5….. 5’11”, 155 pounds…..Second season playing basketball for South…..He hopes to improve and expand his skills both on and off of the basketball court during the season and is thankful to the coaches for recognizing the talent he can bring to the team…..He love the competition of the game…..He works hard in class in order to make sure he passes his classes with good grades.

Elijah Lossow: Graduating Class of 2022….. Wears #30….. 6’0”, 155 pounds…..Second season playing basketball for South…..Also plays football and runs track…..He has earned three letters, one in track, one in football, and an academic letter…..He has played basketball since he was 6-years-old…..He is looking forward to meeting new friends on the team and having good times with his teammates…..He believes he has to work extra hard because he has a hearing loss which can impact what he is told, both on the court and in the classroom…..He is proud that he has earned a place on the Honor Roll every quarter of his high school education.

James Misterek: Graduating Class of 2022…..Wears #1….. 5’ 9”, 146 pounds…..Second season playing basketball for South…..Also plays soccer…..Earned one letter in soccer…..Named All-Conference in soccer during his sophomore season…..He is amazed at the difference between the two sports he plays. In basketball you expect to get the ball every time down the court, but in soccer, 97% of the time you will NOT have the ball……His biggest athletic accomplishment was winning a State Soccer championship and lettering in 8th grade. He also attended a National College Soccer Showcase…..He is extremely proud of his Grade Point Average. He never missed being on the Honor Roll in Middle School or in High School.
