Cross Country running is a sport of discipline.  It takes discipline to make sure you run daily, whether it is hot or cold, clear or raining or snowing, humid or mild.  It takes discipline not to give up in the middle of a run.  It takes discipline to show up for practice daily.  It take discipline to keep yourself in shape during the off-season.  The Tigers are a disciplined group of runners.

The season opened with South hosting the Tiger Invitational.  South finished in second place.  Junior Anna Mulhern finished in second, leading the Tiger scorers. 

In a tough field at Faribault, the Tigers finished in 16th place.  Anna Mulhern was the best Tiger finisher, coming in 30th out of 127 runners.

In the Twin City Challenge, which pitted almost all of the Minneapolis and St. Paul schools against each other, the Tigers finished fourth.  Anna Mulhern was the best Tiger finisher, coming in fifth.

The Tigers finished 13th at the Anoka Rum River Invitational.  Anna Mulhern continued leading the Tigers’ scorers.  She finished ninth.

A 12th place finish in the Green Division of the Mounds View Mustang Invitational was the next meet the Tigers participated in.  Izzy Willette was the best Tiger finisher.

In a meet where the top competition from throughout the country attend, the Tigers finished 37th in the Maroon Division of the Roy Griak Invitational.  Anna Mulhern finished in the top 10% of the runners, placing 42 out of 443 runners.

South jumped on a bus and travelled to Duluth for the Swain Invitational.  In Class AA, the Tigers finished 18th.  Anna Mulhern finished 21st, the best Tiger finisher.

Anna Mulhern finished second in the White Division at the Blaine Bengal Invitational.  The team finished fifth.

At the Conference Meet, South finished third.  Anna Mulhern finished fifth.  The other point scorers for the Tigers were  Isabel Strebe, 13th, Ketura Adam, 15th, Molly Devore, 16th, and Emily Mulhern, 17th

Four runners represented South at the Lefty Wright Grade Level Meet.  Juniors Izzy WIllette and Caroline Seybold participated in the Junior and Senior division.  Tigist Frauenheim-Danke and Scarlett Jensen were in the Sophomore and under division.  South did not have enough runners participating for a team score in either division.

The Tigers final meet was the Region 6AA Meet.  South finished in 12th place.  Anna Mulhern was the best Tiger finisher. 

Mark Gross completed his 11th season as head coach.  “Coach Mark” as he is known to the runners, felt extremely supported by his team as he battled cancer.  His able assistant, Jennifer Huff filled in when “Coach Mark” could not attend because of his medical appointments.
