2015-2016 Season

The 2015-2016 South Tennis season was again very young.  Players who were interested in the game but have never played were part of the mix.  In the past, players with little experience would play on the JV, but with only 12 players, everyone was needed on the Varsity. Another change this season is that North did not field a team due to lack of players. Angie Fischels against led the team.  She was assisted by former head coach Loren Aldrich.

South started the season positively, winning their first match of the season 7-0, a non-conference contest against Columbia Heights.  However, things went downhill from there.  Losses to DeLaSalle and Brooklyn Cener, both 6-1, sent the Tigers into conference play.

The first conference match was a stunner, a 4-3 loss to Henry.  Washburn followed that with a 6-1 beating of the Tigers.

Two more non-conference matches added two more losses to the Tigers’ record.  Bloomington Kennedy won 4-3.  That was followed by a 6-0 win by Richfield.

The conference season concluded with a 6-1 win over Roosevelt, the last win of the season.  Edison beat the Tigers 4-2.  Southwest finished the regular season with a 7-0 win.

South bowed out of the Region 6AA tournament with a 7-0 loss to Eastview.

The Tigers ended with a 1-4 conference record, tied with Roosevelt for last place.  Overall the team was 2-9.  Senior Kate Kaelin was the only Tigers named to the All-Conference team.
