Cross Country has become a popular sport at South High School.  Because of the popularity, many freshmen come out for the team and tend to stay.  A strong bond develops between the members of the team.  Head Coach Mark Gross was quoted in the 2015 South Yearbook saying, “The team did very well during the final meets.  I am happy to be a part of this family!”

South opened the season hosting the Tiger Invitational.  The team finished in sixth place. Celina Barnett-Cashman was the top Tiger finisher.

The meet at Faribault was up next.  The team finished 18th.  Celina Barnett-Cashman was the top Tiger finisher again.

The Anoka Rum River Invitational was held on September 11.  The team finished in 17th place and for the third consecutive meet, Celina Barnett-Cashman was the top Tiger finisher.

On September 18, the Tigers participated in the Burnsville Blaze Invitational.  The team finished in eighth place and Anna Mulhern was the top South runner.

To wrap up September, South participated in the Roy Griak Invitational Meet at the University of Minnesota.  Teams from all over the country participate.  South finished 36th in the Maroon Division.  Celina Barnett-Cashman was the top Tiger finisher.

The Tigers finished fourth at the Blaine Bengal Invitational.  They were in the White Division.  The Mulhern sisters, Kaitlym and Anna, finished ninth and 10th respectively.  They were the top South runners. 

At the Conference Meet, the Tigers finished second.  Anna Mulhern, sixth place, Kaitlyn, Mulhern, 10th, Molly Devore, 12th, Isabel Strebe, 13th, and Kendra Roedl, 14th, were the runners whose scores counted toward the team score.

The Tigers participated in the Lefty Wright Grade Level Meet.  Sonrisa Gaulden was the top South runner in the “Junior and Senior” division.  Ella Cook was the best Tiger in the “Sophomore and under” division.

The last meet of the year was the Region 6AA Meet.  The Team finished in 11th place.  Anna Mulhern was the South runner who finished the highest.

Jennifer Huff joined Mark Gross on the coaching staff.
