The 2012-2013 Cross Country team was mostly seniors this year.  Coaches Mark Gross, Melvin Alvarez and Matt Lawrence began pushing to encourage more students to participate in cross country.

South opened the season participating in the Southwest Invitational.  Team scores were not kept.  Eamonn Casey was the top finisher, placing third.

South hosted the Tiger Invitational and finished in fifth place.  Raleigh Gleason was South’s top finisher, coming in 12th.

At Faribault, the Tigers placed ninth.  Jala Abdujalil was the Tigers’ top finisher.

The Twin City Grade Level Meet pitted the Minneapolis and St. Paul Schools against each other.  Team scores were not kept.  Jala Abdujalil, who came in fifth, was South’s top senior.  Reggy Lema placed 12th in the junior division as South’s best 11th grader.  Tristan Evans-Fargione was South’s top-placing sophomore.  Christian Wanek, fifth place, was the Tigers’ top freshman.

South finished 16th at the Lakeville Applejack Invitational.  The Tigers did not place anyone in the top 25 runners.

Participation in the Bloomington Jefferson Jaguar Invitational saw the Tigers finish fifth.  Raleigh Gleason placed 15th as the Tigers’ top finisher.

South placed 15th in the Maple Grove Mustang Invitational. 

South participated in the Blaine Invitational.  The Tigers, running in the Blue Division, placed eighth.  Raleigh Gleason was South’s top finisher.

During the annual trip to Duluth to participate in the Swain Invitational.  South placed 11th in the Class AA division.  Sam Nelson was South’s top runner at the meet.

At the Conference Meet, South finished third.  Ben Neubecker, 10th place, was South’s top runner.  Miky Wondimu, Raleigh Gleason, Jacob Patterson, and Alex Ausland were the other runners whose times counted toward the team score.

South finished the regular season at the Lefty Wright Grade Level Meet.  South finished 11th in the junior/senior division, 17th in the sophomore division, and 23rd in the freshman and under division.

South finished the season at the Region 6AA Meet.  The Tigers came in 12th.  Alec Ausland was South’s best finisher.
