With the title of defending champion, the South Tennis Team knew that everyone in the conference would be out to topple them.  First year Head Coach Jessica Rich, and returning assistant, Max Maliga, knew the players would have to be ready for every match if they wanted to repeat.

South opened the season against Benilde-St. Margaret’s. The Red Knights toppled the Tigers 7-0, as did their second opponent, Hopkins.

After being shut out twice, the Tigers faced conference foe Edison.  The final again was 7-0, but this time South was the victor.

Against Southwest, the Tigers needed to be their best.  Unfortunately, the better team was the Lakers, who won 5-2.

South stayed in the conference, taking on Roosevelt, whom they defeated 6-1.  North also fell to the Tigers, 7-0.  Against Washburn, the Tigers stubbed their toe, but won by a slim 4-3 score.

Non-conference play continued against St. Paul Harding whom the Tigers defeated 5-2.  Three straight losses followed this win.  The first was a 6-1 loss to LaCrosse, WI.  Then came a 7-0 loss to Owatonna.  Cannon Falls finished the trifecta beating South 5-2.

The conference season ended with a 7-0 win over Henry.

The non-conference schedule was finished with a 4-3 win over St. Louis Park and a 6-1 loss to Robbinsdale Cooper.

The Tigers defeated Edison, 7-0, in the first round of the Region 6AA tournament.  Their season ended with a 4-3 loss to Cooper.

The Tigers were 5-1 in the conference, finished second to Southwest.  Overall, South was 8-8.

Four players were named to the All-Conference squad: Mellicecia Lacy, Bella Larson, Marisa Skelly, and Gretta Strand.
