South opened the season looking to continue their run through the conference.  With a streak of 21 consecutive titles, it seemed as if the Tigers would never lose.  Head Coach Jeff Sanders and his assistants, former Tiger swimmer Amy Bouta and former teacher Neil Anderson, guided the team to what everyone hoped would be another perfect season.

The season opened against Washburn.  The Tigers dominated the Millers, 47-19.

The second meet was against the HREN cooperative.  Taking on four schools at once would demoralize most teams, but not South.  The Tigers won 56-36.

Southwest fell in the third meet of the season.  The Lakers lost 96-85.

The Tigers seemed to take Washburn a little nonchalantly.  The Millers were in the contest all the way, but also succumbed 39-31.

In the second round, the HREN group gave the Tigers a scare.  South won, but by a slim 79-71 margin.

Finally, the Tigers took on Southwest for the second time.  The Lakers fell again, 56-43, giving the Tigers a 6-0 record and their 22nd consecutive conference title.

In non-conference action, the Tigers finished second in the Border Battle meet.  They finished 5th in the St. Paul Central meet, first in the South Invitational and first in the Austin Invitational.  They also finished third in the Region 5AA True Team Meet.

South again won both the Conference Relay and Conference meets and represented Minneapolis in the Twin City contest. The Tigers defeated Cretin-Derham Hall in the Twin City contest 99-84.

However, a few days later, Roseville defeated South to claim the Region 5AA title.

Molly Belk, swimming the 200 Yard Freestyle, clocked in at an impressive 1:51.59 to bring home the gold in the event.  She also finished second in the 100 Yard Butterfly.  Dorothy Baker finished 4th in the 100 Yard Backstroke.  Avery Michienzi took 5th place in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.  Chelsea Rolfsen, the 200 Yard Medley Relay team and the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team also participated in the State Meet.  The Medley Relay consisted of Baker, Belk, Michienzi and Rolfsen.  Baker, Belk Michienzi and a fourth person who was not listed participated in the Freestyle Relay.  South finished in 11th place with 80 points.
