What else could the Tigers Women’s tennis team accomplish?  Seven straight championships and a 44-game winning streak in the Minneapolis Conference were not enough for this year’s players and coach, George Beske.  The team wanted to make it back to State,

In conference play, the Tigers opened against Washburn.  A 6-1 win sent the Tigers on their way to defending their conference title.  Henry and Roosevelt also fell, both by 7-0 scores.

Southwest was the last undefeated team, along with South, to stand in the way of another title.  South easily won 5-2.  The last two conference matches, against North and Edison, were both wins.  The scores were not reported.  The Tigers won their eighth consecutive conference title and 50th match in a row.

South defeated Cretin-Derham Hall 5-2 to bring the Twin City title back to Minneapolis.

In the Region tournament, the Tigers breezed through to advance to the State Tournament.  Also advancing was Beret Remak in the singles competition.  Remak becomes the first Tigers to advance to the singles tournament.
