The 2002-2003 Gymnastics season started under a cloud of uncertainty.  Head Coach Jennifer Koback-Hamilton was diagnosed with cancer and the team, scared about how she would be, worked through the season with heavy hearts.  Senior Hannah Haugberg was quoted in the yearbook saying, “With Jen being sick, it made us realize how much we needed her leadership.” I came down to senior captain Beret Remak to make sure the team stuck together.

The Tigers faced Edison in their first meet.  The Tommies did not challenge the Tigers.  South won easily 1209-73.8.  Southwest was the toughest competition of the season.  The Lakers worked hard, but in the end, they too fell to the Tigers, 129.7-115.5.  South defeated both Roosevelt/Washburn and Henry/North to again claim the conference regular season championship.

In the Twin City Meet, South was joined by Southwest representing Minneapolis against St. Paul Highland Park and Cretin-Derham Hall.  Highland Park won with 138.15, followed closely by South with 136.45.  Cretin, 128.35, and Southwest, 116.6, rounded out the remainder of the scores.
