Beginning with Captain’s Practice in early August and going until November, the Volleyball team spent at least two hours practicing each day they did not have matches.  The players became close through the practices and being together off of the court.  Head Coach Debbie Kern and assistant coach A. Bourns fostered a positive attitude for the team.

South opened the conference season with a loss to North.  The Polars took the match 3-1.

The Tigers and Teddies faced off two days later.  South evened their record and won 3-2.

Southwest put the Tigers back under .500, winning 3-1.

The Tigers evened their record with a 3-2 win over Edison.

The first half ended with losses to Washburn, 3-2, and Henry, 3-0.

South opened the second half the same way they started the first half.  The Tigers lost to North, 3-0, beat Roosevelt 3-1, and lost to Southwest 3-0.

But, South rebounded, winning the last three conference matches.  Edison fell 3-2.  Washburn went down 3-1.  Henry lost 3-0.

South entered the Region Tournament winning their first match, but was eliminated in the second round.  The opponents and scores were not reported.

South ended the season with a 6-6 conference record, good for third place.

After the season, Debbie Kern resigned as head coach.
