As the new season began, the team was young.  It was going through changes, especially at the top.  A  new head coach, Paul Zins joined Keven Anderson on the coaching staff.  According to the South 1991 Yearbook, Senior Kristin Daisy said, “At first, we were kind of tense, but as the season continued we communicated more and more and then we started playing volley ball the way that we knew we could.”

South opened the season with a non-conference match against Shakopee.  Shakopee won 3-0.

In the conference opener, Edison was the opponent.  The Tigers won 3-1.

South then went on a losing streak.  Southwest Roosevelt and Henry all won 3-0.  In a non-conference match, St. Paul Academy also won 3-0. Returning to conference play, North also won 3-0.

Washburn was next, and in a close match, the Tigers won 3-2.  A second defeat of Edison, 3-0, started the second half of the conference season.

Southwest and Roosevelt both beat the Tigers for the second time.  Southwest won 301.  The Teddies won 3-0.

South gained a bit of retribution defeating both Henry and North.  Both games were close, and won by 3-2 scores.

The conference season ended against Washburn.  In a match that was as close as the first one, the Millers came out on top 3-2.

South finished the season with a 5-7 conference record, in fifth place.  Overall, the Tigers were 5-9.
