1990-1991 Season

After a taste of the State Meet last season, the Tiger Cross Country squad goal was to make it back to the State Meet and win it.  Coaches Warren Kaari, in his 15th season, and Craig Canham, knew their job was to prepare the runners for the hard road ahead.

South opened the season at the Nokomis Invitational.  The sixth place finish was a bit of a disappointment.  They improved at the Monticello Invitational, but their fifth place finish was still disappointing to the team.

Then, things began to click for the Tigers.  First place finished in the Apple Valley Eagle Invitational, the Burnsville Invitational and Anoka Invitational, set the stage for post-season races.

The team then faced the other Minneapolis schools in the Conference Meet.  South took the top five places and scored 15 points.  Washburn and Southwest followed.  The remainder teams did not have enough players for a team score.

At the Region Meet, the Tigers turned it up and again finished in first place with 28 points.  Osseo finished in second with 51 points.  With the win, South advanced to the State Meet for the second consecutive season.

At the State Meet, the Tigers finished in seventh place, an improvement from last season.
