After coming so close last year, just losing one conference match, the Tigers wanted more. Head Coach George Beske scheduled a very tough non-conference schedule so the Tigers would be ready for the showdown every expected with Washburn.

South opened the season with a non-conference match against Bloomington Kennedy.  The Eagles played the Tigers tough, coming away with a 4-3 win.

The opening opponent for the conference schedule was Edison.  The Tigers easily dispatched of the Tommies 6-1.

Another tough non-conference opponent was Park Center.  Again, the Tigers fell 5-2.  Totino Grace the beat the Tigers 6-1.  Simley followed with a 5-2 victory.  The Tigers gained their first non-conference win of the season with a 5-2 victory over Columbia Heights.

South returned to conference play with an easy win over Roosevelt, 6-1.  This was followed by their third consecutive win over Southwest, 5-2.

In a close non-conference match, Richfield eked out a 4-3 win.

The match-up everyone was waiting for was next, Washburn.  Both teams were undefeated in conference play.  Washburn was the defending champions.  Could the Tigers take the title.  Washburn’s answer was “NO!”  and the backed it up with a 5-2 win.

The Tigers took out their frustrations on North, racking up a 6-1 win.

In another non-conference match, which featured the battle of the Tigers, South took on Fridley.  As with many of the losses, the match could have gone either way, and this one went the Tigers’ way…..Fridley Tigers way, 4-3.

More non-conference matches followed, all losses.  Against Orono and Chaska, the Tigers had a shot to win, but lost both matches 4-3.  Rosemount won 6-1.

The last conference match of the season was a 7-0 win over Henry.

The regular season ended with a 7-0 loss to Osseo.

The Tigers’ season ended with a 5-2 loss in the Region Tournament to Holy Angels.

The Tigers finished 5-1, again in second place in the conference.  Overall, the team was 6-12.
