The hard fought tennis season opened in mid-August, with practices and non-conference games.  Head Coach George Beske believed this may have been the best team he has coached at South.

The Tigers would get tested right away in the conference season when they took on defending champions Washburn.  Everyone believed this would decide the title from the start.  The teams battled, each winning a point.  It came down to the last match.  Who would win?  Washburn claimed the match 4-3, and would later go on to win the conference title.

Not giving up was the hallmark of the squad.  The Tigers went on an precedent run, winning their next five conference matches. North fell 7-0.  Southwest, whom the Tigers have only beaten once in school history, fell 6-1.  Edison went down 7-0.  Henry, and then Roosevelt, both fell 6-1.

The Tigers finished with their best-ever conference record of 5-1, second only to Washburn.

In the Region tournament, South won their opening round match against Holy Angels, 6-1.  Unfortunately, their season ended with a 5-2 loss to Fridley.
