For the 1984-1985 season, the South Volleyball team looked to improve.  Depth and experience were two of the positives going into the season.  Another advantage was two coaches with experience as coaches and players.

One change this season was that the volleyball match went from the best of three games to the best of five games.

South won four matches.  Against Southwest, the team won 3-0.  Edison was defeated 3-1.  Both Henry and North lost to the Tigers but the scores were not reported.

South played both Washburn and Roosevelt twice, and lost to both teams twice.  The scores against Roosevelt were not reported.  Against Washburn, the Tigers lost both matches 3-0.  In the first match, the Millers won 15-1, 15-2, and 15-2.  In the second match, Washburn won 15-1, 15-1, and 15-4.

At the end of the season, two Tigers were named to the All-Conference Squad, Betsy Scott and Jutta Sundberg.

Anita and Patsy Rindfleisch coached the Tigers for the third season.  At the end of the season, both decided to resign.
