With a team that has matured, the South Women’s Tennis Team hoped to be in contention for the conference title.  With every player returning, the only wild card was the new head coach, Rob Ballard.

The team opened the conference season against Roosevelt.  In a heart-breaking game, the Teddies pulled out a 3-2 win. This set the stage for the season.

The next two matches were against Henry and Washburn.  The Tigers seemed to collapse, losing both matches by 4-1 scores.

The Tigers and Polars clashed on September 13.  Who would have the unlucky day.  Fortunately for South, it was North.  The Tigers won 5-0, bringing the confidence of the team back up.

Southwest was the next foe.  The Tigers fell 5-0.  Against West, the Tigers fought hard but lost a second heart-breaker 3-2.  Conference champion Edison easily handled the Tigers, 5-0.

The Tigers conference season ended on a positive note when South defeated Central 3-2.

The team finished with a 2-6 conference record, tied with Central for seventh place.  Mary Harrity was again the assistant coach.
