Running three miles consistently is a difficult task.  The 15 or 20 minutes it takes to run can be grueling. Coach Warren Kaari had a rather large group of runners to work with during the season.

South opened the season against West.  In a close contest, the Tigers came out in top 28-30.

North, the second opponent, fought just as hard, but the Tigers prevailed 28-35.

In an oddity, the Tigers and Edison raced to a tie, 28-28.

South easily outdistanced Central, 18-45.

In an upset, the Tigers fell to Henry 25-36!

In the only non-conference dual of the season, South sank the Islanders of DeLaSalle 21-39.

South defeated Marshall-University 25-29, the lost to Southwest, 25-33.  The Tigers edged Vocational 30-36, but the lost 18-43 to Roosevelt.

During the regular season, South finished with a 5-3-1 conference record and a 6-3-1 overall record.

The team finished a disappointing seventh at the Conference Meet.  Mike Hoehn finished fourth overall.  He was the only Tiger runner to finish in the top 20.
