1925-1926 School Year
1925-1926 Team Photo: Players’ names were not listed in the 1926 South Yearbook.

With only two veterans on the team, South expected to be in a rebuilding season, with the new runners learning the discipline needed to be successful in cross country.

South lost two regular season meets, one to Central, 87-33, and one to Roosevelt, 103-17.

Despite these losses, South participated in their first State Meet, held at the University of Minnesota.  South finished third, behind the champion, Sandstone, and second-place Roosevelt.  This was an amazing finish, mainly because of the loss of Raymond Grey, who was injured and could not participate. Hilding Mortenson, Raymond Dustrude and Sherman Peterson were awarded medals for their showing at the State Meet.

Otto Engebrecht coached the squad for the 1925-26 season.
