Important Dates for the Class of 2016

Seniors, the time has come to make this year memorable! Your senior advisors are on this journey with you and availalble to help.
Just a few notes:

  1. Please, scroll to the very bottom of this page. Beneath the calendar is additional information!
  2. Costs are estimates, and prices are subject to change.
  3. Parents, your involvement is important, needed and appreciated very much!

Graduation Information


  • Mariucci Arena on the University of Minnesota Campus is the site of the ceremony.
  • Tickets are required for every attendee older than 5 years of age.
  • Ten (10) tickets are available to each graduating senior. 
  • Graduates arrange their own transpsortation to the arena. 
  • No school bus availability for graduates

Photo  Keepsakes

  • LifeTouch will take photos of all graduates during the ceremony.
  • Photos do not need to be pre-ordered.
  • LifeTouch will send proofs of photos to all graduates using the address on file with the school.

Senior Fee

  • The 2016 Senior fee helps offset costs of the ceremony and tickets.
  • The 2016 fee is $35 per student.
  • Turn in fee and Senior Class checklist to the main office at the end of May.

Cap and Gown Information

All seniors must complete a Cap and Gown order form. 

  • Obtain the form from Ms. Woldum in room 224; or
  • Download from this site (see bottom of this page).
  • Completed forms should be returned to Mrs. Woldum or emailed to .

Boat Bash 

   This event's held aboard the Betsey Northrup which will embark from Harriet Island West in Saint Paul.

  • Maps to the departure point may be found at .
  • Tickets are sold lunchtime in the commons the week of May 2nd.
  • Tickets may also be purchased from Mrs. Woldum in room 224.
  • Estimated ticket cost is $35 per student.

Senior Picnic

  The Senior Picnic takes place immediately after the graduation rehearsal at South (see dates above).

  • Tickets are sold lunchtime in the commons the week fo May 2nd.
  • Cost is $10 per student.
  • All students must ride buses to the picnic location.
  • Buses will return to South High at 2:30 pm.
  • Tickets are sold the first week of May at all lunches.
  • They may also be purchased from Mrs. Woldum in room 224.

All Night Senior Party

Hello Seniors!  You are the guests of honor at the Senior All-Night Party. Plan to celebrate grad night, May 31, with fellow graduates of the Class of 2016! This promises to be the best party yet!  You will be bused to a “secret location” the night of graduation, as the guests of honor.  There will be lots of food, music, swimming and other FUN activities to keep you busy all night.  Please also see the PDF invite linked to the bottom of this page for more info!

South Families! We Need Your help!

We need many adult volunteers to put on the parent-organized all-night party for South graduates.  

  • WE NEED YOU!  

  • The party takes place at a "secret" destination graduation night, May 31 and into the morning of June 1.

  • Parents and Guardians of ALL grade level students (Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors) are welcome, needed and encouraged to be part of this wonderful tradition.

Here's what volunteers will do:

Pre-party registration (over lunch hours at school)

  1. Set up decorations on graduation day May 31, 2016.

Work in 3-4 hour shifts at the party to assist with security, entertainment, food service, and clean-up May 31-June 1 early morning.

 Prize Donations Needed

Part of the fun at the party is the prize drawings!  If you know of a business that may be willing to donate cash, gift certificates, or items for prizes, please contact Kathy Riggins at
