SOUTH HIGH DEVOTES CLASS DAY TO RACIAL, SOCIAL JUSTICE

MINNEAPOLIS – All regular classes will be suspended at South High School Wednesday, May 17replaced with workshops and cultural performances dedicated to Racial Justice Day 2017.

Organized by students, this daylong event builds on the success of our first Racial Justice Day held in May of 2016.  As then, students will bring in guest speakers and artists to join them and staff in presenting workshops as an alternative to walkouts, vigils, and sit-ins.

The event theme, PRIDE, reflects words organizers hope will inspire thoughtful conversations throughout the event day and beyond: P: Power to the people, R:Resilience, I: IdentityD:Decolonize and E: Equity.

Students are encouraged to come with an open mind, a notebook and something to write with!
