The school year is moving along quickly as we end our second quarter on January 16th. Please encourage your students to complete any and all missing work so that they have the best possible grade reflected on their report card. A reminder that the parent portal is a great way to stay connected to your student’s academic performance.
When the rare pause emerges, I continue to be deeply thankful for the collective talent and energy of our students and staff. I am also thankful for the essential contributions of our students, parents, and our community. Our school is uncommon in its breadth of interests, diversity, range of talents that mirror a complex blend of culture, background, and experiences that are increasingly the hallmarks of both our local and global communities. South High School continues to be a tremendous place to work and learn.
Calling ourselves a world class school requires a continuous determination and commitment to see that all students, regardless of who they are and how they come to us, leave us better prepared to meet the next set of life’s challenges. Our commitment must also include the development of the curiosity, character, and conscientiousness that will allow students to be productive and compassionate citizenships. This is a charge we share as a school and a community.
Finally, I want to thank Mark Sanders for his contributions as the Athletic Director of South High School. Mr. Sanders has accepted a position outside of Minneapolis Public Schools and will be leaving us on February 1. Please join me in thanking Mark for his leadership and dedication to South High Athletics.
