Laurie Meyers directs five choirs at South High School. Ms. Meyers grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Drake University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Nova Southeastern University. She has also studied Kodaly pedagogy at the University of St. Thomas. She has been teaching vocal music since 1998 and is passionate about giving all students opportunities
to sing with healthy vocal technique and share the music within them.
Pop Singers Fall 2013
Most of Ms. Meyers' teaching has taken place in various schools in the Minneapolis Public Schools, but she has also taught with the Edison Project and at Eastview High School. She has also taught in Jordan as a Peace Corps Volunteer. She is grateful for her collaborative and talented teaching colleagues in the music department at South.
Ms. Meyers is a member of the American Choral Director's Association and the National Association for Music Education. She has sung with various vocal ensembles, including World Voices of Minnesota and American Public Media's Radio Choir. She currently solos at her church and enjoys gardening, reading poetry, and finding new recipes. She lives in Minneapolis with her husband and three children.
