Friday Seminar: Documentary films

This week, Friday Seminar will feature student documentary work and a special Q&A with filmmakers from the senior level class, Values Options Issues Choices Explored in Society. Featured films include:

  • Worse than Wisconsin | Olbekson, Gubrud, Jaja, Ferguson
  • Revitalizing our Indigenous Cultures | Freed, Mata
  • Time's Up | Truen, Kelly, Al-Hajiby, Abraham
  • Get passes at lunches | Check in to 7th hour classes BEFORE attending!
South High has talent!

Always a crowd-pleaser, the National Honor Society Talent Show takes the stage THIS FRIDAY. Students will compete for cash prizes and the judge is you, along with fellow audience members! Friday, March 23 | 6: 30 p.m.

  • 5 p.m. Tickets on sale at door! | 6 p.m. Seating | 6:30 p.m. Showtime!
  • Tickets $5/student | $7/adult | Or pay what you can!
  • First prize $150 | Second $100 | Third $75
Principal Aponte: Class day will change

Yesterday, Principal Aponte announced staffing effects of cutting 1.4 million from South's budget. Additionally, he wants families to know South High will be going to a 6-period school day. This will not affect registration. Look for another Principal's Corner, next week. 

Bilingual Career Talk in EspaƄol

Building on the success of our first Bilingual Career Talk in Somali, School Social Worker Salma Hussein is organizing a second in Spanish! All students are invited to learn about careers in education, 9:30 -11 a.m., Media Center Lab 261.  | See Flyer!

Sign up for Indian Ed college tours

MPS Indian Education is sponsoring a cross-state college tour. Visit two-year college North Dakota State College of Science and four-year University of Minnesota - Morris. Get permission slips in the Career College Center, Room 246. Due by April 13. | See flyer.

MCA testing begins in April

Minnesota's Comprehensive Assessment exams will be administered next month on the following schedule. Please direct questions to Ms. Elizabeth McMillen.
