Dance At South High
The South High Dance Program was initiated in the fall of 2012 to complete the Fine Arts offerings. We are a program for all students, from the beginner to the serious artist hoping to pursue dance at the college level. Students with no experience are encouraged to take the Beginning Dance course, which introduces students to the world of dance through explorations in social dance and dance for the stage. Dance forms often covered include swing, salsa, West African, hip-hop, ballet, and modern. Dance II is for the student who wishes to gain more technical skill and performance experience. The Dance Company I & II classes are audition-based performance ensembles that provide students with an intensive experience in dance training year-long. Advanced students are challenged to develop their artistic voices as choreographers and performers. Students in year-long classes perform in 2-4 performances in the South auditorium.
