Daily School Announcements

South High Seniors: (April 23-May 8) Hey, hey South Seniors! Plan on attending THE ALL NIGHT SENIOR PARTY following graduation on Saturday, June 1st. This annual event will be held at a secret location. There will be food, swimming, henna tattoos, food, dancing, skating, laser tag, and much more! Invites will be mailed to you mid-May. You can find more info on The Tiger News Webpage- or search us on FACEBOOK- South High Senior Party. Registration begins in the commons on May 8th through May 24th.

 

All Students: (May 1-May 2) Project Success would like to remind everyone that there are still spots available for the college tours visiting St. Catherine University, St. Paul College and Normandale Community College on Monday, May 6th. If you would like to attend, please submit a completed application by Thursday, May 2nd at 3pm to the Project Success box in the Main Office.

 

Women's Soccer Players: (May 6th-May 9th) The Spring women's Booster Club meeting will be held on May 9th at 6:30 in the South High Gym. This is a required meeting for ALL fall women's Soccer players and a parent. Meet coach Voeller and hear about summer and fall activities. Please spread the word to other players and incoming freshman.

 

Everyone: (April 30- May 3) Unidos last meeting for this school year will be held this Thursday May 2nd. It will start promptly at 3:05 pm in room 339. Everyone is invited including old and new members. New board members will be elected, so your presence is vital! See you there!

 

Students and Staff: (May 1- May 3) Sunshine for sale! Send your sweetie or friend or teacher or classmate a sunshine-gram to brighten their day. They cost .50 or $1 and will be sold during lunch April 29th through May 3rd . We need all the sunshine we can get!! 

 

All Students: (April 17- May 6) Dear South High Students, The counseling office will be holding our 2nd annual Tiger Tube Video Contest! We are looking for student produced videos that explain how the counseling department can help students reach their full potential. Winning videos will be awarded! First prize- $100 gift card to Target, Second prize- $50 gift card to Target, Third prize- $50 gift card to Target. You must submit a story idea to Ms. Hassell by Tuesday, April 30th. Final video projects are due to the counseling office by 3:00 pm on Tuesday May 7th. Stop by 247A if you have any questions and to pick up a hard copy of the video contest packet.

 

Students: (May 1-May 3) Students, have you failed a class recently, do you need to make up credits this summer? If so, please see your counselor before Friday, May 3rd to sign up for Summer School. Summer School will be offered at Washburn and North High School. See your counselor for more information. 

 

Hello South!: (April 23- May 3) Are you head over wheels for biking? Bike to school week is here! Bike, walk, or publicly transport to school and enter your name in a raffle to win glorious prizes! Help your environment and participate in your community! Do it you're cool, bike to school, April 29th- May 3rd. 

 

All: Please respect our fragrance free school. We have students and staff who cannot breathe in these chemicals. They get sick, they get headaches, migraines, their chest tightens up, they have to use inhalers, some have to go home. One has had to go to the emergency room. We are not kidding about the seriousness of casual spraying of scents and also the wearing of scents. Do not put others in danger please.

 

School Wide: (Every Monday) How about that Rachel's Challenge Group! Friday's dance in the commons was awesome. Next Friday plan to join in! Today is High 5 Monday- Please give all the people you see a high 5. You can start now, brought to you by Rachel's Challenge!

School Wide: (Every Wednesday) Wednesday is Rachel's Challenge- Inner Weird Day! Tell people something about you they don't know. Dress to express who you are!  Rachel's Challenge Inner Weird Wednesdays!

 

School Wide: (Every Thursday) Rachel's Challenge Thursday- attend 2nd hour- create your own link to the chain. Please write something positive on your link to the chain about your school! Rachel's Challenge Thursday- Create your own Link to the Chain Reaction!

 

School Wide: (Every Friday) Rachel's Challenge Friday! At Breakfast join Rachel's Challenge Dance Line in the commons- Be a part of the Chain Reaction!

 

Students: Do not put your phones in your backpack pockets. Students are stealing them as you walk in the halls. Never leave your backpack unattached in class or in the commons. Do not leave any valuables in the locker rooms-period!!! We have had a dozen thefts in as many days.

Students:  As a reminder we do have a dress code. We always have:

  • No sagging pants or clothing that reveals underwear.
  • No hats or hoodie are to be worn in the building
  • No bandanas are allowed as head wraps or decorations
  • No short shorts or short skirts
