Connect at conferences

Conferences are parent opportunities to connect with teachers, and seek assistance from other South staff professionals who will be on site. If parents cannot attend, we encourage students to check in with teachers about their progress:
 

● Counselors will available in their offices during conferences, on the 2nd floor across from the media center. Note, Counselor Farah Abuqalbeen will only be in Friday morning.

● Advanced Achievement Coordinator, Anne Marie Plante will host an 7:30-8 a.m. session Friday, Feb. 17 to talk about PSEO, College in the Schools, and AP courses. She'll also be on hand in the Commons during Thursday, and Friday conferences to talk about advanced achievement opportunities.

● Gear Up Counselor - Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is a federally funded college access program with the goal of ensuring MPS students pursue a postsecondary education. Counselor Kelly Burnett from Gear Up will be available during Friday conferences in the Commons area.

● Career & College Center (Room 246) will be open Thursday, Feb. 16. Nneka Abdullah will be available to assist with:

  • Naviance - Online system for career and college planning
  • College applications
  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)--bring 2015 Tax Returns

● Media Specialist Deb Snell will be available in the media center to assist with:

● Parent Portal - Online system for tracking grades and student progress

● Social Workers will be available in the Commons, near the Athletic office.
