Mission Statement:

We believe that music education provides a powerful means of self-expression, personal and community development, and life-long fulfillment for all.

Inclusivity Statement:
We are dedicated to providing enjoyable and enriching opportunities in music to students of any race, ethnicity, cultural background, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, language, socio-econonomic status, or political view.

There is a place for everyone in the South High Music Program. With a supportive administration, students have the opportunity to explore beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels of band, choir, orchestra, class guitar, and class piano. South is proud to offer beginning levels of band, choir, and strings that require no audition or placement process.  Five of the auditioned ensembles (Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble I, Pop Singers, Varsity Choir, and Wind Ensemble) tour annually. South Music strives to provide experiences for students to express themselves through music and to connect with others in community.

School song: SOUTH HIGH TIGER ROUSER
All hail, you gallant tigers, we'll do for old South all we can.
Our hearts are always with you.
You will bring to South High a victory so grand.
All South is here to greet you, and cheer you on triumphantly.
So, FIGHT, FIGHT, TIGERS: FIGHT, FIGHT, TIGERS,
Charge and fight your way to victory.
