Biography:
I’m proud to be an Okie (but not from Muskogee!)  Growing up, my family moved around quite a bit, but settled in Tulsa when I was 10.  I  graduated from a very diverse, urban high school very much like South High in 1983. Before graduating in Zoology from OU, I spent a summer doing field studies at Itasca at the U of MN Biological Station.  I fell in love with this state, its people, its politics and one particular Minnesota guy.  So I moved here to continue my education, married that guy and have been a teacher at South ever since.  (My good-looking husband and I also have two above average children)

I absolutely love the subject of biology – particularly its social and ethical implications.  On a minute-by-minute basis, living systems are changing and altering our human experience.  I hope to impart the dynamic nature of the subject to my students by encouraging them in guided self-inquiry.  The Open Program at South is an ideal environment for students to pursue personal learning goals while surrounded by similarly motivated students.  I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to teach science at South since 1989.  Several years ago a parent referred to me as the “fairy godmother” of the Open Program at South.  I like that!

Professionally, I've recently travelled to China and Greece to expand my skills and educational horizons.  I'm working to grow professionally in as many ways as possible.
