Cross Country running is a sport of discipline. It takes discipline to make sure you run daily, whether it is hot or cold, clear or raining or snowing, humid or mild. It takes discipline not to give up in the middle of a run. It takes discipline to show up for practice daily. It take discipline to keep yourself in shape during the off-season. The Tigers are a disciplined group of runners.

As a new season begins, hope springs eternal.  New member join the team.  Those who were juniors last season are now the seniors in both grade and leadership.  Even though changes come with each new season, some things stay the same.  Mark Gross returned to coach for his 12th season. 

The Tigers hosted their invitational on August 30.  South finished second to South St. Paul.  Anna Mulhern led all runners and won the race with a 19:50.00.

The Tigers participated in the Faribault Invitational a week after Labor Day.  South finished 13th.  Anna Mulhern led the team, finishing ninth. 

The Twin City Challenge, pitting the Minneapolis schools against the St. Paul Schools saw South finish tied for sixth place with other schools that did not have enough runners.  Samara Adam was the only runner to represent South in the race.

The Roy Griak Invitational was next on the schedule for the Tiger runners.  South finished 49th in the Maroon Division.  Against top competition from around the nation, Anna Mulhern finished fourth.

The Tigers travelled to the southeastern part of the state and participated in the Farmington Cowbell Invitational. The team finished eighth.  Anna Mulhern, who finished sixth, led the Tiger runners.

The Tigers went north to Duluth to participate in the Swain Invitational.  In the Class AA division, the Tigers finished in 20th place.  Sophomore Josie Ferguson placed the highest of all the South runners.

The Tigers participated in the annual Conference Meet.  The team finished in third place.  Anna Mulhern was the best Tiger finisher, coming in fifth place.  Josie Ferguson, Emily Mulhern, Cece Kaufman and Irene Wilson were the other South runners who’s scores counted for the team results.

The Tigers finished the season at the Region 6AA Meet.  The team finished in 11th place.  Anna Mulhern finished her high school career coming in 22nd, the best for a South runner.
