As the summer turns to fall, most people hope to get the last few times swimming in.  But not the swimmers for the TMT program.  They begin their training in the middle of August and hope to end up in a State Meet during November.

TMT opened their schedule at the Eau Claire Relays.  The team finished a disappointing 10th out of 10 teams.  The competition was extremely hard.  None of the TMT teams finished in first place.

The Tri-Metro Relays pushed the TMT team harder.  Two relay teams finished in first place.  The 100 Yard Freestyle team of Emma Foley, Maddie Diffenbach, Annika Roe and Eleanor Dolan won in a time of 50.47. The 200 Yard Butterfly Relay also won.  The team members, Sophia Manolis, Sophie Hanson, Bridget Anderson, and Eliana Storkam, swam the race in 2:05.32.

TMT took on the Minnehaha Academy/Holy Angels team and won 93-70.  TMT claimed nine of the 12 first places.  Emma Foley won two events, the 100 Yard Butterfly and the 200 Yard Freestyle.  Maddie Dieffenbach, Eleanor Dolan, Anika Johnson, Katie Kelbrants, and Annika Roe each won one event.  Two relay teams also took first.

TMT finished seventh at the Minnetonka Invitational.  Nine schools participated.  TMT did not have any event winners.

St. Peter was the next opponent for TMT.  The team from Minneapolis worked hard for a 98-85 win.  TMT won 10 of the 12 events.  Maddie Dieffenbach, Eleanor Dolan, and Anika Johnson each won two events.  Sophia Manolis and Annika Roe each won one.  The 200 Yard Freestyle and Medley Relay teams also won.

TMT hosted the annual Maroon and Gold Invitational.  TMT swam in the Bronze Division and finished in third place.  Thirteen teams were in the division. Anika Johnson won the 200 Yard Freestyle in 2:00.12 AND the grueling 500 Yard Freestyle in 5:20.63.  The 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Johnson, Eleanor Dolan, Maddie Dieffenbach and Annka Roe also won.  Their time was 1:42.62.

Visitation and TMT squared off in the next dual meet.  Visitation won 55-44.  Maddie Dieffenbach (100 Yard Breaststroke), Eleanor Dolan (100 Yard Backstroke), and the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Bridget Anderson, Sophie Hanson, Emma Foley and Sophia Manolis all claimed first place finishes.

TMT and Columbia Heights faced off in another dual meet with TMT winning 91-75, taking home 8 first places.  Emma Foley won the 100 Yard Butterfly and the 500 Yard Freestyle.  Maddie Dieffenback, Eleanor Dolan, Anika Johnson, Katie Kelbrants and Annika Roe each won one event.  The 200 Yard Medley Relay team also won.

St. Anthony and TMT dualed in the next meet with TMT coming out on top 94-71.  Eleanor Dolan won two events with Maddie Dieffenback, Sophie Hanson, Anika Johnson and Annika Roe each winning one.  The 200 Yard Freestyle and Medley relay teams also were victorious.

Fridley was the final opponent for TMT, with the Minneapolis schools winning 101-85.  Anika Johnson and Annika Roe each won two events.  Emma Foley won one.  All three relays teams claimed the title.

The True Team Regionals were the next event.  The highest placed person was Katie Kelbrants who finished ninth in diving.  As a team, South finished in last place, scoring 121 points.

In the Conference Meet, the swimmers represented their school.  South finished with 18 points, in third place.  South did not have any swimmer bring home a title.  South’s best swimmers were Sophie Hanson (100 Yard Butterfly) and Sophia Manolis (10 Yard Breaststroke), both who finished in second place in their events.

Again, the teams broke up to participate in the Regions.  South finished in last place in the Region 6AA meet.  Sophie Hanen’s 7th place finish in the 100 Yard Butterfly was the best a South swimmer placed.

Jeff Sanders finished his 27th season as the head coach.  He was assisted by Neil Anderson, Berit Gelvez, Edwing Gelvez, Lucy Hennen, Jessica Herrera, Shea Laviler and Caroline Olson.
