A new season.  A new beginning.  A team full of enthusiasm.  That is what Head Coach Jeff Sanders and his assistants, Edwing Gelvez, Shea Lavalier, Neil Anderson, Berit Gelvez, Lucy Hennen, Jessica Herrera and Caroline Olson, had to work with.  The numbers were good as well.

The TMT squad opened the season at the Eau Claire Memorial Relays,  finishing 8th out of 11 teams.  The 100 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Mia Ruchie, Anika Johnson, Annika Roe and Eleanor Dolan was the only group to finish in first place for TMT.  They won in a time of 50.41.

In the Tri-Metro Conference relays, team scores were not kept.  Only one TMT finished in first place, the 200 Yard Butterfly Relay consisting of Izzy Gilbertson, Sophie Hanson, Emma Foley and Annika Roe.  They “floated” to a time of 1:57.79.

The first dual meet of the season was against the combined might of Minnehaha Academy/Holy Angels.  TMT won 97-72, claiming wins in all 12 of the events!  Maddie Diffenbach won two events to lead the team (100 Yard Breaststroke and the 200 Yard IM).

TMT Participated in the Minnetonka Invitational against some of the best teams in the state.  They finished 7th out of nine teams.  The best any swimmer did in the meet was 5th place.

The Maroon and Gold Invitational was next on the agenda.  TMT finished in 4th place in the Bronze Division out of 13 teams.  The 200 Yard Freestyle and Medley Relay teams were the only first place teams for TMT.

TMT and Visitation squared off in the next meet.  Visitation won 97-79, but TMT won four of the 12 events.  Eleanor Dolan, 100 Yard Backstroke, and Sophia Manolis, 100 Yard Breaststroke, were the individual winners. The 200 and 400 Yard Freestyle Relay teams also took first place.

TMT defeated Columbia Heights 85-69, winning eight of the 12 events!  Maddie Dieffenback won both the 100 Yard Breaststroke and the 200 Yard Individual Medley.

South, Washburn and Roosevelt broke up to participate in the Region True Team Meet.  South finished in last place scoring 295.  The winner, Edina, amassed 1468 points.  South did not have anyone finish in first place.

TMT finished the regular season taking on SWEHN.  SWEHN won 99-79, and would participate in the Twin City Meet.  Maddie Dieffenback won the 100 Yard Breaststroke in 1:11.62.  Eleanor Dolan won the 100 Yard Backstroke in 1:02.37.  The 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team also won in 4:07.31.  The team consisted of Dolan, Holly Anderson, Ella Cook and Bridget Anderson.

South’s season ended in the Region 6AA Meet.  South finished a disappointing 7th, out of eight teams.  Because of MSHSL rules, the three teams had to break up for regions.  South did not advance anyone to the State Meet.
