The 2013-14 South Women’s Tennis Team faced adversity for the first time in many season.  First were the many newcomers to the team, many who have never played the game of tennis before.  Among the newcomers, were a new coaching staff, which included Head Coach Loren Aldrich and his assistants, Beth Betts and Angie Fischels.

South played very few non-conference matches because much of the time was spent teaching those who have never played the game how to play.

South opened the season with a win against North, 6-1.  The Tigers were stunned Roosevelt.  The Tigers had won 22 consecutive matches against the Teddies.  No one told the Teddies they were supposed to lose.  Roosevelt broke their losing streak with a 4-3 win.

Edison fell to the Tigers 4-3.  Southwest, in a close match, defeated the Tigers 4-3.  Washburn also beat South, 7-0.  The conference season ended with a 5-2 win over Henry.

The only non-conference match the Tigers played was against DeLaSalle.  The Islanders sank the Tigers 4-3.

In the Region 6AA Tournament, South was eliminated in the first round with a 6-1 loss to Washburn.

South finished the conference season with a 3-3 record, tied with Edison and Roosevelt for third place.  Overall, the Tigers were 3-5.  Only one Tigers was named to the All-Conference squad, senior Marisa Skelley.
