With a new season beginning, new hope is always in the air.  Joining Melvin Alvarez as coach is Mark Gross.  Gross’ skill in dealing with young runners, some who have never participated in the sport before, brought praise from the team.

South opened at the Nokomis invitational where the team finished in 10th place.  This was followed by the grueling Roy Griak Invitational at University of Minnesota.  The Tigers finished 32nd.  At the Swain Invitational in Duluth, the Tigers finished 13th

The Tigers’ best finish of the regular season was a seventh place finish in the Metro Invitational  An eighth place finish in the Blaine Bengal Invitational, at 15th place in the Hyland Park meet, and a 16th place in the Faribault Invitational finished the regular season.

The Tigers competed in the Conference Meet and finished second.  Sophomore Safia el-Hmamsi was the highest placed individual South runner, placing third.  Maureen Carlson, fourth, Claire Brady, ninth, Maya Harris, 10th, and Evelyn Sadowski, 11th, were South’s other point earners.

South finished the season at the Region 5AA Meet, where they ended in eighth place.
