The Tigers opened practice with the goal of winning back their conference title.  Southwest defeated the Tigers to break South’s hold on the title.  Now, South wanted to start a new streak.

They were well on their way after the opening conference match of the season against Edison, The Tigers won 7-0.  They duplicated that score against North, giving the Tigers a 2-0 record in the conference.  Wins over Washburn and Henry (the scores of neither were reported) bumped the Tigers’ record to 4-0.  A 7-0 win over Roosevelt set up the deciding game for the conference title.

That game, against Southwest, was the last match of the season for both teams.  The winner takes home the crown.  The loser finishes in second place.  South left no question who the better team was winning 5-2 and reclaiming the conference title.

The Tigers then took on St. Paul Central in the Twin Cities match.  A close contest saw the Tigers fall to Central 4-3.

In non-conference play, the Tigers were 2-4.  Wins over Spring Lake Park, 7-0, and Robbinsdale Armstrong, 5-2, gave the Tigers confidence.  Unfortunately losses to Mounds View and Benilde-St. Margaret’s, both 6-1, Wayzata, 5-2, and Hastings, 4-3, could have hurt the team’s moral, but did not.  The Tigers also played Burnsville, but the score was not reported.
