In recent years, South has been the team to beat in women’s tennis.  Six consecutive titles, a conference record, and 38 consecutive conference win, also a conference record, propelled the 2001-02 team into what everyone hoped would be a great season.

South opened conference play against Roosevelt.  The Tigers beat the Teddies, however the final score was not reported.  Washburn was the next to fall, 7-0.  The wins kept piling up, as the Tigers beat Southwest 6-1.  Edison and North both fell 7-0, giving South their seventh consecutive conference title and increased their conference winning streak to 44 games!

In non-conference matches, the Tigers were 3-6.  The wins were all by close 4-3 scores.  Anoka, Bloomington Jefferson and Cannon Falls were the victims.  Losses were to Sibley, Wayzata and LaCrosse Aquinas, WI, all by 4-3 scores.  Burnsville and Coon Rapids both won by 6-1 scores.  Apple Valley blanked the Tigers 7-0.

In the Twin City match, Cretin-Derham Hall took home the trophy, beating the Tigers 7-0.
