With losing half of the starting team to graduation, no one expected the Tigers to be competitive, except the Tigers.  Under the tutelage of George Beske, the Tigers have been one of the best teams in the conference and State in recent seasons.

The Tigers opened against an up-and-coming Eagan team.  The Eagles barely defeated the Tigers, 4-3.  The Tigers then faced Sibley and won 6-1.  Two more non-conference losses, one to Burnsville 6-1, and one to Bloomington Jefferson 5-2, led the Tigers to their first conference match.

In conference play, Edison was the first to fall.  The Tigers won 7-0.

The Tigers went back to non-conference play losing three of the next five. Against Wayzata, the Tigers won 5-2.  Losses to Edina, 7-0, and Anoka, 6-1, could have deflated the Tigers, but they were not deflated.  Against St. Paul Central, the Tigers won 7-0.  In a tough match against Fridley, the Tigers lost 5-2.

Returning to conference play, the Tigers beat Washburn 6-1, followed by a 7-0 beating of Henry.

Lake City fell in a non-conference match 7-0.  This was followed by a 4-3 beating of Rochester John Marshall.  Lakeville then edged the Tigers 4-3.  Litchfield fell 4-3. So did Benilde-St. Margaret’s 4-3.

Finishing off the conference season, the Tigers beat Roosevelt.  The score was not reported.  They then faced a tough Southwest team.  Both teams were undefeated, so this would be for the conference title.  The match was everything the players thought it would be, very tough.  The final score was 4-3 with the Tigers claiming another title!  The Tigers then finished conference play with a 7-0 beating of North.

In the Twin City match, the Tigers faced Cretin-Derham Hall again.  This time, Cretin took home the trophy, winning 5-2.

Results of the Region tournament have not been reported.
