After the past few seasons when the Tigers finished near the bottom of the standings, South players and coaches wanted more.  They wanted to challenge for the conference title. 

South opened the conference season against North.  The Polars out-played the Tigers en route to a 30-19 win.

The game against Roosevelt was for the Teddies Homecoming.  It was also played at the Metrodome.  The Roosevelt fans went home disappointed as the Tigers piled up a 34-14 win.

South and Edison clashed in a game that saw a total of 56 points.  Edison took the game 32-24.

South hosted Southwest for the Tigers’ Homecoming.  The Tigers scored easily and won 42-20.

Washburn played a stellar defense against the Tigers as South was limited to a safety.  The Millers won 36-2.

The last conference game of the season was against Henry.  In a close game, South pulled out the win 25-21.

In the Twin City Crossover series, South drew St. Paul Central.  Central pulled out a 20-12 win over the Tigers.

South finished the conference season with a 3-3 record, in fourth place.  Oveall, the Tigers were 3-4.

Head Coach Al Howard finished his 10th season at the Tigers’ leader.  He was assisted by C. Frasier and Tony Stewart.
