“We got along really well.  I think we had a good attitude, under the circumstances,” said senior Steve Snider,  Although they did not win very many meets, they did have a lot of near misses, and they also had to forfeit several times for lack of enough wrestlers.

One reason this team did not perform as well as in their previous years was their small physical size.   “We could run fast and we were in really good condition, but that does not make a whole lot of difference one you get out there,” said Snider.  “We just were not big enough.”

During the conference season, the Tigers ended in 6th place with a 1-5 record.  Their only victory came in the last conference match of the season against Henry.  The final scores was 57-7.

The six losses were: 68-6 against North, 54-18 against Washburn, 63-3 against Roosevelt, 59-4 against Edison and 42-28 against Southwest.

During the non-conference season, the Tigers were as unlucky as they were during the conference season.  They lost all six non-conference matches to Richfield 48-18, Bloomington Jefferson 54-21, Totino Grace 54-21, Edina 49-23, Cretin-Derham Hall 55-12, and St. Paul Central 38-34.

Another unlucky break was drawing Edson for the first round of team regions.  Although they improved since they last met, Edison still won 48-14, knocking the Tigers out of the Regions.

Coaches John Jurisch and Rich Barron believe there is more than enough hope for the future.  There were only four graduating seniors out of more than 20 wrestlers.  The returning wrestlers made plans for working out in the off-season so they will be in fighting form next year.
